Student Success Program: Success Logics
Success Logics (formerly "CollegeSkills") is a self-directed, web-based course
that helps Grade 12 students who intend to pursue post-secondary education, transition
smoothly into a new lifestyle and study environment. It assists students leaving a
nurturing classroom environment, and entering an independent facility of self-direction
and personal development. This course gives participants the skills and knowledge
base to succeed in their new education environment. This awkward transitioning period,
when students become anxious, and need reassurances to remain steadfast and focused,
is when students are at their most vulnerable.
Self-Directed and Independent Study
Students begin with a self-assessment to determine their multiple intelligences,
personality type and learning styles. The fourteen comprehensive chapters of
Success Logics that follow provide insight into the three areas that make human
beings function in society:
From self-awareness to developing a plan for success, and attaching support
mechanisms, students learn to build confidence and stay motivated while studying.
As students proceed, they keep personal progress journals, and make personal
growth observations. Students understand and apply these principles to their own
experience. Students then better grasp what it takes to succeed in their everyday
lives. It makes a difference in the classroom, lecture halls, private study time,
managing time, money, friends, nutrition and inter-personal relationships.
Students can keep this e-course for as long as they want it, allowing them to refresh
their memory and re-learn or re-visit principles as needed.
